Learn about the Virginia Literacy Act (VLA) in this module! We will discuss why the VLA is important, the reason behind why Virginia is shifting literacy instruction, evidence-based literacy instruction aligned to science-based reading research, and other related topics related to the VLA.  In this optional module, learn how the VLA will potentially affect you, how you can support students, and ways to integrate literacy into your classroom. 

We have created a pacing guide to help you move through this module. The pacing guide includes the resources that are on this webpage below but it also includes additional resources and activities to further your learning. Time frames are listed in the pacing guide as well. We strongly encourage you to use it to complete this module! 

All VALUE Professional Development modules are optional to support knowledge building in evidence-based literacy instruction aligned to science-based reading research. Offerings are not required under the Virginia Literacy Act Professional Development requirements. VLP does not provide a certificate of completion or a tracking system for VALUE modules.
