Stephanie Tatel

PhD Student

Stephanie Tatel comes to doctoral work at UVA with 24 years of experience as a middle school classroom teacher, elementary reading specialist, elementary instructional coach, and PK-12 division literacy coordinator. At the VLP office, Stephanie supports the development and implementation of the Spanish literacy screener VALLS Español. Her research interests include preservice teacher preparation for culturally and linguistically diverse classrooms, and implementation and professional development for language arts and literacy instruction.
