Marcela Courtade Carlock is an early childhood educator passionate about bilingual education.
Carlock’s passion for bilingual education stems from her own experiences as an immigrant and as an educator with over a decade of experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse students and their families.
Throughout her career, Carlock has dedicated herself to researching and developing curriculum that support bilingual education in the early childhood setting. She has worked tirelessly to create programs that are both effective and engaging for young children.
Upon joining the Virginia Literacy Partnerships office, Carlock has dedicated herself to researching the Science of Reading and contribute to the development of the new Virginia Spanish Literacy Screener.
