Reading Rules

A small group intervention program based on current reading research that systematically and explicitly teaches all the components of reading: 

• phonemic awareness 
• phonics
• fluency 
• vocabulary
• comprehension

UVA Tutors

Tutors were undergraduate students from the University of Virginia.

After being trained to provide the intervention, they visited the City of Promise location twice a week to offer onsite tutoring.

Over the course of the semester, tutors and students developed relationships and enjoyed the time spent with each other.
